Warialda’s annual Honey Festival this Saturday

March 8, 2018

The Honey Festival is only days away for the 11th Annual Warialda event, taking place this Saturday. Come and join in all the fun down at the Recreation Ground, with the official opening at 11am by local MP Mark Coulton (to be confirmed) followed by the presentation of the inaugural Busy Bee perpetual trophy.

Last minute nominations are still being accepted so if you know of someone who is deserving of this recognition of their outstanding contribution to our community, pop in to see the friendly team at the Warialda Information Centre to nominate them.

After the formalities have concluded, the main stage will explode with entertainment by local performers and community groups as well as market stalls and a dedicated Kids’ Zone which includes activities and rides for all ages. Thank you to Bizclean who have kindly donated the mats for the kids to play on.

“We’re also having a demonstration by the Australia Amateur Bee Association at this year’s event. They will be discussing how to have your own backyard hive and what you can do to have a bee friendly garden, which is a great addition to this year’s festival”, said Honey Festival Committee member Sharnie Kent.

Benny Nelson will be back again on Saturday performing throughout the day this year as well, thanks to Gold Sponsors Total Ag. He is currently on tour, promoting his debut EP album and his newly released single “Ride Away”.

Whilst the kids are busy in the Kids Zone, the ladies can enjoy the delicious treats in the High Tea Marquee, catered by the talented ladies of the County of Burnett CWA. Grab last minute tickets in one of the three sessions on the day for only $20 which includes sweet and savoury finger food and unlimited tea and coffee.

The ‘Honey I Got Talent’ talent search will kick off at 4pm which is the perfect way to end a great day. Spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a family friendly afternoon of entertainment. barbecue, bar and canteen facilities will be available.

Dan Wade from Inverell will wrap up the festival after the Talent Quest, performing whilst the sun sets for people who want to keep the buzz going into the evening.

A big thank you to the local businesses who are supporting this year’s event.
