Working dogs show their style at Upper Horton

June 7, 2010

Upper Horton Sports Club will be conducting their 24th Annual Dog Trials on June 12, 13 and 14, 2010.  The Trial started as a one day event and has grown to a full three day event.  Early enquiries have been strong from Queensland to Portland, Victoria, with several new trialers wanting to compete.

The main event is the Horton Valley Yard Dog Championship Trial which carries with it the Paul Hodges Memorial Trophy.  The winner of this event is then entitled to compete in the NSW Championship.  There will also be Encouragement, Maiden and Novice Events.

In conjunction an Arena Trial will be held.  This is growing in popularity with 40 entries in the Encouragement in 2009.  Early enquiries suggest that there could be the same number again this year.  There are also Novice and Open Arena events.

The popular Dog High Jump will again be held at lunch time on Sunday, June 13.  If you have a dog that can jump, come along and join in the fun.

Depending on the availability of sale dogs there will be an auction of working dogs also on Sunday lunch time.  Anyone that has a dog for sale or wishes to buy a started dog, please contact Barry Madden.

There are good facilities available on the Recreation Ground with plenty of firewood for campers.  Meals and refreshments are available each day on the grounds and at the Sports Club in the evening.

Some of the best dogs and handlers in Australia will be competing and are great to watch.

Thanks to all of our sponsors for your loyal support.
