Workshops for aspiring theatre directors

The North West Theatre Company will be holding two director’s workshops at the Roxy Theatre, Bingara. The workshops will be delivered by Rick Hutton and the first will be held on Sunday, April 12 from 10am to noon.

The workshops are for those who may have contemplated directing a play, concert or theatrical event or for those who wish to brush up and review their methods.

Topics to be covered will include selecting a play, auditions and casting, set and lighting design, budgeting, coordinating a production team and promotion.

Rick Hutton is regionally renowned for his acting and directing skills. Rick has directed NWTC’ s productions of Gosforth’s Fete, The Curious Savage and Pygmalion. He
also directed the joint school and community spectaculars, Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and his own creation, Big River Dreaming. Rick wrote The Playing Fields of Eden and has produced several concerts including Roxy and Hammerstein, Play it again at the Roxy and Roxy on Broadway. Rick is currently in the process of directing the Bingara Community ANZAC Centenary Concert which is to be held on Saturday 18 April

Workshop participants can expect a high quality and very useful delivery. Adding to this experience, participants will be able to engage with the cast and crew of NWTC’ s current production, Murdered to Death.
