Bush walking

Breathtaking bush walking is right on our doorstep with many tracks and beautiful spots along the Gwydir River.

For the more energetic there are several areas not far from town where nature lovers can walk and enjoy the beauty of the bush. Places which include: Sawn Rocks, The Glacial Area, Batterhams Lookout as well as countless others.  For detailed information contact the Bingara Visitor Information Centre.

Listen to and watch the birds.  The district is renowned for its extensive variety of bird life and following the brochure Bird routes of Bingara, Barraba & Warialda will give you ample opportunity to sample bush walking in the area, as will a walk to the lookout.

Nature colours your walk with wildflowers and their visitors.  Be sure to look out for wallabies, kangaroos, lizards echidnas and be aware of our slithering friends the snakes.
