Busy Australia Day planned for Bingara & Warialda

Full programs of events have been planned for Bingara and Warialda for Australia Day, Saturday, January 26.

Organised by the Warialda Rotary Club, a gold coin donation breakfast will be held at the Warialda Showground, beginning at 7.30am.

The Australia Day guest speaker will be Federal Member for Parkes, Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Mark Coulton.

The focus will shift to Captain Cook Park for the official opening of the new play equipment at 12.30pm. The new equipment is a project instigated by Warialda woman, Natasha Price and the playground committee, and supported by the Regional Australia Bank, Warialda Rotary and the Gwydir Shire Council.

Mark Coulton will officially open the new playground equipment.


In Bingara, The Roxy Theatre is the venue for the Australia Day breakfast, cooked by Bingara Lions Club members, which starts at 8am. Master of Ceremonies will be Linda McDouall. Australia Day Ambassador, Yianni Johns, will speak and present the Bingara citizen awards.

Nominations for the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year close this Friday, January 18.

During the day, Yianni and his wife, Kristen will be hosted by Rick Hutton who will take the visitors to Myall Creek and a tour of the living classroom.

The Bingara Sporting Club will hold a three person Ambrose in the afternoon, starting at 3pm.
