Caravanners from all over Australia headed to Bingara Showgrounds this week for the Australian Caravan Club’s National Muster and Annual General Meeting. The muster program will include guest speakers on a variety of subjects, tag-along tours to local attractions and plenty of social interaction.
Taking place from October 11 to 16, the muster organisers are expecting upwards of 300 caravanners and are grateful to Gwydir Shire Council for their willing support. They are also appreciative of the support from local businesses who have donated prizes for fundraising during the event. This also includes caravan trade donations as well.
Five Years Old
This gathering is only the fifth Annual General Meeting of the Australian Caravan Club and ACC Chairman Lionel Mussell, will report to the meeting of the achievements of the club in its first five years.
“There are now local branches in every mainland Australian State and these provide excellent avenues for social activity for their members,” Mr. Mussell said. “Members of this National club can visit any branch and be made welcome. Besides social activity and seeking benefitsfor members, the ACC is an active voice for caravanners and has a lobbying role with approaches to all levels of Government including speaking up when facilities for all RVers are being curtailed,” he said.
“Caravanners from Bingara and surrounding areas who are interested in learning more about what the club has to offer will be very welcome to call in at the Bingara Showgrounds and chat to members during the week, although Saturday will be taken up with the Annual General Meeting, and not the best time to visit.”
Supplies for catering for the event are being sourced locally and many towns along the roads travelled by members on the way to the muster will benefit as well.
“It has been estimated that RVers spend an average of at least $100 a day while travelling,” Mr. Mussell said.
Local grazier Tom Smith, is Chairman of the organizing committee for the muster.
