The latest Gwydir directory, also known as the Blue Book, has been delivered throughout the Gwydir District.
The last directory, or the Red Book, was published in 2007 and mainly covered the Warialda area. The new version has been approximately two years in the making to include updated information such as personal numbers, addresses, list of services and important numbers. The book covers Bingara, Cobbadah, Coolatai, Crooble, Croppa Creek, Gravesend, North Star, Upper Horton, Warialda, Warialda Rail and Yetman.
The Warialda District Business Chamber hopes that, like its predecessor, the Blue Book will be used daily in many local households. It also bears the same cover image by Warialda cartoonist David Moor. Business Chamber official, Ann Willis has high hopes for the updated directory and has said a lot of locals still used the old Red Book on a regular basis.
“They are great; they have a large print and not as many numbers as the White Pages,” she said. The Warialda District Chamber worked in conjunction with Bingara and District Vision 2020 to produce the book. Ann Willis explained the decision to combine the directory with Bingara “will hopefully create stronger ties between the two towns”.
The directory is free to all residents and was made possible by the local businesses that have advertised within the publication.
The Chamber encourages all those who find the book useful to give whatever support they can to those advertisers.
The Chamber is grateful to all the volunteers and contributors who have made the production of the book possible.

The future plans for the Gwydr Directory is to create an online database of all the information from across the district that can be constantly updated with the help of the community.
