July 13, 2011

The North West Theatre Company Inc. is proud to announce a wonderful musical event at Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre and Bingara’s Roxy Theatre in August. The two mid afternoon concerts will be in Narrabri on Saturday August 20 and in Bingara on Sunday August 21 each at 2:30pm.

Providing the BEAUTIFUL SONGS will be the Harmony Inc. choral group from Narrabri, and Bingara soprano Lexi Hutton accompanied by Li Ling Chen from Manilla on piano. Both theatres will reverberate with beautiful songs from opera to contemporary, songs to delight the ear and uplift the soul.

Lexi has just competed at the 30th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria. She finished in second place in the Operetta competition, narrowed down from more than a thousand who auditioned on five continents.

Lexi has also been selected to perform, in November in London, the Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) by Henryk Gorecki with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This haunting piece for solo soprano and orchestra has as its dominant theme motherhood and separation through war.

Prior to that, Lexi will compete in the City of Sydney Eistedfodd and the Macdonald’s Operatic Aria Competition before returning to England in September where she has been selected to perform at the International Aldeburgh Festival, in the Britten–Pears Young Artist Programme, an event that which has launched many artists’ careers.

Tickets for the two concerts will be available soon at the Crossing Theatre and the Bingara Tourist information Centre (Ph:67240066).
