Bingara Business Award nominations

Nominations for the Bingara Business Awards have been announced ahead of the Awards presentation on Friday night.

The awards, sponsored by Bingara and District Vision 20/20, and Gwydir Shire Council, are divided into five categories, and will be presented at the Gwydir Industry and Education Links Committee (GIELC) dinner at the Roxy.

“This Awards Night started as the Vocational Education Awards Presentation evening for Warialda High and Bingara Central schools,” Susanne Hughes, Chairperson of GIELC said.

“Some years ago it was also decided to include businesses and their employees to encourage them to recognise the importance of continued training in the work force, and to reward them for their good service.”

Nomination for Senior Employee/Proprietor include:

  • Dr Louise Fisher – Bingara Medical Centre, 
  • Jayne Roberts – Community  Mutual, 
  • Kimberly Apthorpe – Gwydir Shire Social Services,
  • Christine Smythe – Villa Rouge,
  • Damien Galvin – Meat on Maitland,
  • Tanya Lanagan – Imperial Hotel,
  • Jo Coss – Imperial Hotel,
  • Mark McGowan – Bingara Central School,
  • Stuart Lanagan – Gwydir Shire,
  • Rebecca Lanagan – La Vogue Hair Salon,
  • Anne Brien – Bingara Advocate and Bingara Pharmacy,
  • Kellie Gill – Gwydir Shire Council,
  • Scott Mack – Rural Fire Services, and
  • Paul Andrews – Meat on Maitland.

Junior Employee nominees are:

  • Ethan Brown from Meat on Maitland
  • Natasha Kemp from C&W Partners.

The Small Business (under five employees) section include:

  • Shenanigans on Gwydir
  • Meat on Maitland
  • Villa Rouge
  • Bingara Bakehouse
  • Bingara Fruit and Vegies
  • La Vogue. 

Large Business (over five employees):

  • Imperial Hotel
  • Bingara Multi Purpose Service.

Rural Award

  • Garry and Linda McDouall’s Property “Yarraman”.

Invitations have been sent out to nominees. However, anyone can attend the evening but the bookings have closed already at this stage of the event as numbers were required for catering purposes by last Monday.

“These nominations are made by the community and we hope that you have booked your ticket to support your friends and family on this important occasion and have a wonderful evening,” Mrs. Hughes said.
