NEW ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
The Department of Education and Training has reviewed it’s procedures in relation to student attendance. The new policy requires absence from school to be explained within the first two days.

Parents are asked to contact the school if their children are going to be away for longer than two days. A quick phone call is sufficient. Where absences are unexplained school is now required to send a letter requesting an explanation. School will be adopting this practice from next week.

A SPECIAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE
On Friday last week two professional musicians, Sarah and David Matthews, visited school to present a short concert so that students could appreciate the special sound of stringed instruments. Sarah and David played duets with the cello and violin, separately, to infants, primary and secondary students.

The performances were greatly appreciated by both students and staff and I would welcome these performers back again to supplement our exiting music curriculum. David and Sarah are the co-ordinators of the Inverell Campus of the New England Conservatorium of Music.

SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION
The 2010 School Certificate examination for Year 10 students will occur on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of next week. Students knowledge and understanding in English,  Mathematics, Science, Geography, History and Computer will be assessed in this state wide external examination.

Although Year 10 is no longer a school exit point for most students this credential remains an important one and I encourage our Year 10 students to give their best effort next week.
