Clean up Day officially postponed but some progress made

March 7, 2013

Due to heavy rain on Friday and subsequent local flooding events, last Sunday’s Clean Up Australia Day at Bingara was postponed due to safety concerns.  A new date for the Community Cleanup will be proposed this week.

Not to be beaten by the weather however, were the blokes from the Bingara Men’s Shed who cleaned up at their nominated site, the popular camping area “below the Pumphouse” on their meeting day last Thursday.

In approximately an hour and a half the ‘Men’s Shedders’ rounded up several bags of recyclables, rubbish and rusty barbed wire, proving that it doesn’t take long to do your bit for the local environment.

Bingara Central School students and teachers participated in the School’s Cleanup Day on Monday.  Principal Mark Vale reported a successful mornings Cleanup, recyclable (and reusable) items, including several treasured golf balls, were located.

Students enjoying practical lesson in environmental science and learning more about recycling in the process.

Details of the new date for the Community Clean Up will appear in next weeks Bingara Advocate.
