FREE cooking classes

October 15, 2015

The Inverell Rural Outreach and Support Services will be running “Purse Strings Cooking” classes at the Roxy Trade Training Kitchen on Wednesday October 28 from 9.30am -2.30pm.

Participants in the class will learn skills in cooking, nutrition, food storage, food wastage and how to shop on a budget.

The aim of this class is to increase confidence, trust, self-esteem and empowerment of participants, improve financial management ability to develop and monitor food budgets, increase awareness of minimising food waste, and develop skills for preparing low cost nutritional meals.

The class will be run by a qualified chef with all materials including recipes and groceries supplied on the day. Participants will also take home a free apron.

Based in Otho Street in Inverell, The Rural Outreach & Support Service Rural has been established to assist with homelessness issues in our community.

They strive to provide families, women, men and young people a safe, secure and supportive environment.

The service offers a wide range of free programs such as the Purse String Cooking class that can be delivered to a group or tailored to an individual’s need.

Other programs address topics such as healthy and unhealthy relationships, mental health awareness, and an anger management workshop to recognize and address emotions in yourself and others, and seek help before they swing out of control.

For more information on the cooking class or to book please phone Leeanne or Kerrianne on 02 6721 0855 before October 26.
