Gwydir Valley Bullets seeking Coaches

March 9, 2011

The hunt for coaches and players has commenced in earnest for the new rugby union venture, The Gwydir Valley Bullets.

The intention is to nominate teams in the New England competition in both second grade and ladies 7s. The short term objective is to have full squads in training by late March as the competitions commence in May.

Also required are people that would like to go on the Committee and help out as team managers plus game day support staff. Anyone interested may contact Rod King at the Bingara Newsagency, phone 0428241500 or email rod-king@bigpond.com

However, the District will be treated to some football well before the official start with trial games arranged for March 19 and 26.

March 19 will see Bingara host Moree and Barraba clubs in trials. This will  involve  seniors, under 19s and 16s.

March 26 two New England clubs will take part in trials which will  also involve the Valley Bullets.

In both trials, the new club will enter a team, however depending on numbers; the other towns will provide some players to cover any shortfall.

The Valley Bullets will not be pitched against the first graders. Also any under 16s or 19s are very welcome to trial in the Barraba teams.

The games on March 19 will commence at 3pm [aged trials] and 4.30pm for seniors.

Training continues at Gwydir Oval 7pm Tuesdays and Fridays and every one is welcome to come along, even if it is only to get fit.
