A Gold Medal that is!
Local girl Kirsty Coombes landed in America last week on an 18 day visit. Kirsty is one of 34 teenagers from New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia competing on behalf of Australia in track and field events, after their proven result at state levels.
Kirsty’s first competition was in Las Vegas and she won gold in the High Jump. She beat 30 other competitiors and jumped 1.5m, impressive by anyones standards, but more so for Kirsty who has had no formal coaching!
Kirsty was able to go to America with the aid of tremendous support of the Bingara and surrounding district who held extensive fundraising to help fund the trip. Everyone who contributed will be so proud when they hear of her success!
Well done Kirsty! You have done yourself, Bingara and Australia proud!
