Ladies’ social netball

July 22, 2008

The women of Bingara and district have been discussing the possibilities of developing a women’s netball competition. This idea has risen due to the lack of sport and physical activities available to women within our community.

Netball is not just a rewarding game for people interested in improving their fitness but also for an enjoyable social event for women of all ages and abilities to come together in the interests of community health and women’s sport.

Teams will comprise a cross section of mothers and daughters and ladies aged 8 to 80. All are welcome!

At the meeting held on Saturday, July 5, it was decided that ladies netball competition will be held on Sunday mornings with the first game to commence at 10am. We have had an overwhelming response with over 70 ladies putting their names down to participate. Over the next week we will work at dividing these ladies into equal teams and we look to begin once school resumes.

Anyone who wishes to play please register with Catherine Egan or Alex Stones to ensure that you are placed on a team. This social women’s netball competition is supported by the Gwydir Shire Council. For any information, questions or expressions of interest please don’t hesitate to contact Catherine Egan on 6724 1484 or Alex Stones on 0437 241 031.
