Lexi plays “Cinderella” in 2008

January 5, 2008

Bingara lass Lexi Hutton will continue her association with OzOpera in 2008, but in the role of Cinderella, and be based in Melbourne.

Lexi was one of the cast of the NSW based OzOpera Company that toured Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” this year.

Their October performances at the Roxy Theatre, hosted by the North West Theatre Company in Bingara, delighted the adult audience with “A Night at the Opera” and enthralled the 350 primary children the next day with “The Magic Flute”.

Lexi has been offered the title role in the adaptation of Rossini’s Opera, “Cinderella”, but this time with the Victorian based OzOpera company. This will mean a move to Melbourne for an eight month contract beginning in March.

The opportunity to continue with OzOpera has meant a great deal to Lexi. She acknowledges the need for her voice to “mature” and OzOpera provides her with the chance to perform for children, and to continue to improve her vocal skills.

Although Lexi will not be performing at the Roxy with OzOpera this year, she is likely to be in Bingara for several weeks prior to her move to Melbourne. She hopes that she might again catch up with her friends at Bingara Central School during February, before her trip south.
