Roof raising, rhythmic-rich, remarkable repertoire, Roxy and Rob!
That’s the plan, when patrons of The Roxy Theatre in Bingara are treated to a night of entertainment reminiscent of the Big Band Jazz era at the “Raise the Roof at The Roxy” Concert on Saturday, November 17th.
A fund raiser for Mental Health Research, the concert features Tamworth Big Band, conducted by Di Hall, and the wonderful voice of Robert McDougall. Supported by Lucy Warner and Belinda Robinson, these three young stars are members of the highly prestigious Department of Education Talent Development Program.
Rob has performed as a guest artist at The Roxy a number of times and returns now with a show of his own! With the amazing support of Tamworth Big Band, enormously talented backing vocalists and the charm of the beautiful setting at The Roxy, this is one evening you won’t want to miss!
Talented Tamworth musician, Daniel Murray, has been writing the musical arrangements for this concert and will perform on keyboard. The Tamworth Big Band comprises twenty members, made up of adults and students and includes a line-up of brass, saxophones and a rhythmic section.
Di Hall, of course, needs little introduction to the music lovers of this state! The Regional Arts Co-ordinator with the Department of Education, Di is the face of musical development in the region and across a large part of NSW. She is responsible for co-ordinating regional band camps, that ultimately provide talented young musicians with the opportunities to members of the North West Country School’s Touring Band and State Wind Ensembles. Di also supports students and teachers in their school environment; many times providing local workshops and superb tutelage to develop the musical skills in this region. When Di raises her baton, you can be assured of a remarkable concert!
This magical evening is supported by Rotary International and all proceeds will go towards a most worthy cause in our society, Mental Health Research. From 50’s Jazz, to modern pop and musical theatre, this show’s got the lot!
