Searching for the Moree Superstar at the Roxy

Moree Super Star is set to bring our local stars to the limelight next weekend, March 17 at The Roxy.

The event is a music competition which involves young people aged 8-13 and 14-24 years from Moree and the surrounding areas including Northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland with categories including both individual and group performances.

The competition will be judged by Marty Roberts, Matthew Hayes and Aron Dennis from Moree and a guest judge from each town where auditions will be held. The 2010 CMAA Female Artist of the Year, Felicity Urquhart is a special guest and will also be part of the Judging Panel at the Grand Final.

Auditions will be held in the following venues.

  • – Bingara The Roxy – Saturday March 17, 3pm NSW time.
  • – Narrabri Bowling Club – Sunday March 18, 3pm NSW time.
  • – Goondiwindi Bowling Club – Sunday March 25, 2pm Queensland time.
  • – Moree Town Hall – Saturday March 31, 3pm NSW time.

The Grand Final will be held on Sunday April 15, at the Moree Town Hall commencing at 2pm during Youth Week 2012. This event is in conjunction with the Moree’s 150 years celebrations. A prestigious “Australian Academy of Country Music” single scholarship may be offered to a finalist who can meet the Academy’s criteria.

Prizes:

  • – The winner of the “Individual” category in “Junior” Section will receive an Xbox 360 Kinect with games.
  • – The winner of the “Individual” category in “Senior” Section will receive a Laptop.
  • – The runner up in the “Individual” category in “Junior” Section will receive a an iPod Touch with Accessories.
  • – The runner up in the “Individual” category in the “Senior” Section will receive an iPod Touch with Accessories.
  • – The winner in the “Group” category in “Junior” Section will receive a Harvey Norman Voucher to the value of $1000.00
  • – The runner up in the “Group” category in “Senior” section will receive a Harvey Norman Voucher to the value of $500.00
  • – The runner up in the “Group” category in “Senior” Section will receive a Harvey Norman Voucher to a maximum value of $500.00

Exciting news!!
Indigenous senior individuals who are based in NSW will have the opportunity to enter the “Troy Cassar-Daley” – Arts NSW Award. This award is a fully paid scholarship to 2012 Australian Academy of Country Music – an opportunity too good to miss.
