Small numbers make for a pleasant show jumping weekend

July 22, 2011

The Bingara Pony Club hosted their annual Graded Show Jumping Competition recently and although only a group of 28 riders turned out for the two days the weekend ran very smoothly.

“The numbers were low but were expected to be that way due to a clash with other events,” said President of the Bingara Pony Club, Robert Coombes.

The main sponsor for the weekend was Hiscocks Saddlery of Tamworth who donated rugs towards three of the winning prizes in the different jumping grades.

The overall winners for the weekend are as follows:

A Grade: Dale Freemen of Inverell.
B Grade: Melanie Cleal of Warialda
C Grade: Aimee Cleal of Warialda
D Grade: Rebekah McGowan of Bingara
E Grade: Colless Coombes of Bingara.

“A big thank you goes to the SES who were on site for the weekend in case of any accidents,” said Mr Coombes. “The only falls we had were very minor with no injuries,” he said.

Fine weather and a small but very well behaved group of riders made for a fun and enjoyable weekend. “The members of the Bingara Pony Club worked tirelessly all weekend and a special thanks goes to all who helped out.” said Mr Coombes.

The next big event for the Bingara Pony  Club will be their Ribbon Day and ODE in September.
