Three candidates nominate for Council by-election

Nominations for the Gwydir Shire Council election to be held on December 5 closed last Wednesday, with three candidates putting themselves forward.

In the order they will appear on the ballot paper, they are:
DIXON, Marilyn
ALLEN, Michael
McDONALD, Kerry
 
This is Marilyn Dixon’s second tilt at a seat on Council as she was a candidate in the July 11 by-election.

Electors may view each candidate’s information sheet at www.elections.nsw.gov.au or at the office of the Returning Officer.

The information sheets give an outline of what the candidates stand for and their contact details.

The Bingara Advocate will hold a Meet the Candidates evening at the Roxy Theatre on Tuesday, November 17, at 6.00 pm.

A similar event, organised by the Warialda Standard, will be held at Warialda on Thursday, November 19.

Pre-poll and Postal voting
Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options. “If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote”, said Mr Barry.

Postal vote applications will be accepted up until 5.00pm on Monday, 30 November 30.

Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, November 23 and closing at 6.00pm on Friday, December 4 at the Gwydir Shire Council, Bingara Office, 33 Matiland Street, Bingara and Warialda Office, 54 Hope Street Warialda. Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll.
