Welcome gift for Touriandi

Residents and staff of Touriandi Aged Care facility recently hosted a morning tea at which a presentation of a cheque for $20,000 was made to the Chair of Touriandi Board of Management, Kevin Hansen.


Friends of Touriandi treasurer, Stephen Baker, with resident, Mavis Sargeant, board member, Brenda Pankhurst, resident Daphne Steiger, staff member Tonille Reading and board chairman, Kevin Hansen.

Treasurer of the Friends of Touriandi Fundraising Committee, Stephen Baker spoke of the Committee’s efforts over the past year to raise funds for furnishing the visitor’s room  in the new extensions to the facility, currently under construction. A proportion of the funding will be utilized for window furnishings and a wide screen television.

The Committee is very appreciative of the community’s support in raising such a significant amount which will enhance the quality of life and physical environment of all the Touriandi residents. Tonille Reading thanked Steve for the generous donation and spoke on behalf of the staff, residents and manager of Touriandi.

Fundraising projects will be on the agenda for meetings of the Committee during 2009 and future fundraising will continue to be allocated to the specific needs of residents and their comfort. Proceeds of the March street stall were used to purchase water coolers for the facility.

The Friends of Touriandi meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6.00pm at the Imperial Hotel and extend an invitation to all community members to attend and share new ideas.
