Working on better governance of local community groups

Community Groups are invited to attend a free half day workshop in Bingara, all about increasing community groups’ skills in Governance.

These workshops, hosted by the Upper Gwydir Landcare Association are ideal for committee members and volunteers who want to find out more about strengthening procedures and ensureing good governance of their community group.

These workshops are delivered by Landcare NSW staff, who have lengthy experience in governance and working with non profit organisation and groups.

The Bingara workshop on Wednesday February 26 will provide four sessions on
• Corporate Governance and Reporting Obligations
• Work Health & Safety
• Communications
• Roles and responsibilities of the Committee.

Since September these workshops have been delivered in six locations across NSW – Wingham, Tenterfield, Holbrook, Orange, Parkes and Coffs Harbour, with 107 participants. Attendees have included Landcare committee members, farmers, volunteers and representative from non-profit community owned organisations.

Feedback from participants indicates this is a very worthwhile workshop to attend.
